We were thrilled to work on behalf of the England Hockey organisation on the design of a logo and branding for 'Quickflicks', a new series of hockey-based educational resources. The Quickflicks name originated from the fact that video would play an important part within the resources and also referenced the hockey 'flick'; a move that involves dragging the stick across the surface before hooking the ball upwards.
The resources help teachers to deliver a range of curriculum subjects within a fun, lively hockey framework. The scheme was an extension of 'Quicksticks' an introductory form of hockey aimed at 7-11 year olds.
The Quickflicks logo needed to be an extension of Quicksticks and retain its personality and appeal. It also needed to work as a self-contained banner and include the logo of England Hockey's primary sponsor Investec. We adapted the existing typeface but also incorporated a second 'hockey stick' within it.
A set of film frames each depicting a key stage of a hockey 'flick' was added to the right hand corner to further reinforce the concept behind the scheme.
