Kent-based equestrian retailers Speedgate have a formidable presence in the 'horsey' world. A large part of their prominence comes from their extensive advertising within the pages of equestrian magazine 'Pegasus'. We designed one full page A4 and two half page advertisements for them every month.
There wasn't a need for a heavy conceptual approach; each month the task was to produce good, strong, informative brand building ads that guided readers to the Speedgate website, or either of their two stores. The aim was always to clearly and concisely 'sell' the products whilst simultaneously promoting Speedgate as rightful leaders in their field.
Each month the ads had a variety of uses such as promoting new products, giving details of sale items, informing people of events at Speedgate. Subject matter included products for horses, pet items, paddock/stable equipment and clothing for riders. Consistent application of Speedgate's elegant and classic branding was vital but each ad had to have its own identity as well as it was important that readers 'recognised' them as new ads each month.
The ads, in conjunction with regular weekly HTML emails, ensured Speedgate's profile was high.
Fortunately some superb imagery was supplied by the companies behind the products Speedgate were selling and we deliberately kept copy to a minimum to really focus on a series of strong, simple messages.
